Energy is the propellant of the economy today. Energy is the most important aspect that drives the world. It is described as a factor that affects people today. Solar energy is a renewable source of energy which according to Dr. Lewis is much preferred than any other form of energy. This kind of energy is derived from the natural resource. The natural process of the heat from the sun is used to generate a renewable resource. The energy will always be available because the sun is a natural resource. Primary energy is the energy that is derived directly from natural resources such as crude oil, wind, sun, ocean tides, or natural gas. This is energy that is harnessed from the natural sources directly.

Secondary energy is energy that derived from human made sources of energy. The human made sources of energy may be the batteries, charcoal among others. They are made by people for the purpose of providing energy. Total energy is the energy that is consumed per year by people. This energy is comprised of renewable and non-renewable forms of energy. Energy from electricity is a sub branch of the total energy produced. Electricity is a primary energy. Energy that is acquired from devices that is driven mechanically by wind or water can give electricity. Electricity is the energy that is obtained from the mechanically driven water or air. This makes electricity the first output that is received from the process. Therefore electricity is a primary energy.
The fossil fuels may include oil, coal and natural gas. These fuels are referred to as fossil fuel because they have been derived from the rotten remains of prehistoric animals and plants. The problems with reliance on fossil fuels are that fossil fuels are not a renewable energy resource. The fossil fuels may seem to be renewable because more oil fields and coal seams are being discovered. In the future there may be no oil fields or coal seams. Fossil fuels are causes air pollution. Burning of fossil fuels leads to production carbon dioxide which contributes to the global warming.
Each of the other energy sources fall short of meeting global energy needs for given reasons. Coal is burnt to produce energy. It produces carbon dioxide that increase global warming. It also produces sculpture dioxide which when it rains it causes to acid rain. Mining of oil can be difficult, dangerous and destroys the landscape. Natural gases are also burnt to produce energy. The carbon dioxide that is generated contributes to global warming. The gases are no renewable and they can become extinct with time. Global warming may increase to high levels if the use of these sources of energy is not reduced. These other methods of energy deplete the environment. They lead to the degradation of the environment posing great threats to human beings. These alternatives can contribute to our electricity needs, transportation fuels, and total energy needs to a large extent. The gas has been greatly used in the homes for cooking. Coals can be burnt to produce large amounts of energy that is used in the factories. Oil has been used to provide the fuels that are used in vehicles. Fuels like diesel and petro have been used by vehicles as a source of energy. The population growth is a factor which also leads to the shortage of energy. This however may not be sufficient for the increasing demands of energy by users.
Solar energy is not in full use in present times. This may be because the energy that can be harnessed from the sun is still less compared to the energy that can be generated from the other sources of energy like oil and coal. It is still quite expensive to build solar power stations. As technology improves, the installation of solar power stations may be cost effective. Solar cells are not cost effective compared to the amount of electricity they will produce as long as they are durable. Solar energy is been used only in certain climate. The solar energy is mostly effective in sunny seasons. Many people do not see the need to install solar panels in their houses when they are only used in some seasons. The economic times we are living in limits the full potential of solar energy. Cost is an aspect that prevents the full implementation of solar energy. Fossil fuel being one of the cheapest energy produced. This has led to its reliance avoiding the other forms of energy like solar energy. The conversion of sunlight to energy is a tree based process which is very costly limiting the use of solar energy.
Several things are being done to improve solar technology to make it more efficient and more cost effective. Solar power stations are being put in place to generate electricity. People are been encouraged to use solar energy because it is free. The solar energy is been used in most homes because it is much cheaper than other sources of energy like hydroelectric using the solar panels. Solar does not only produce electricity. Solar water heating has also been greatly used in the homes.
According to the video, companies are producing devices that can use solar energy. People can use solar made items that can be charged using the solar energy like phones. Solar water heating has also been greatly used in the homes. There is a proposed study of how fossils fuels can be integrated with solar energy. This integration will lead to less dependency on fossil fuels. This is led by the fact that the energy used in a day is less as compared to the energy produced by the sun in a day. Since the installation of solar panels in every household is costly, it is advised to tap water during winter and releases it during summer to enhance energy production. Companies are evaluating a better way to convert sunlight to energy using minimal cost.
