Discuss some of the "special" problems that may arise when managing the highly skilled professional that you may not encounter with nonprofessional employees. Managing skilled professional is quite an uphill task and can give rise to numerous problems. Such problems are very frequent in software companies wherein various branches of a particular company have to be built in different countries. There are various problems associated with outsourcing a software project to an off-shore firm.

Lack of communication between both the parties have always been a problem that have resulted in large scale snapping of business relations since the clients are not fully satisfied with the performance of the offshore retailer and thus they fail to reap in projected profit. Secondly, finding ways of offering attractive pay and benefit packages to recruit and retain such skilled professionals while controlling labor and benefit costs is also a problem (Paier, and Miller, 1991).

This text book highlights on the patients' rights and responsibilities which addresses areas such as: right of participating in care decisions, right to formulate an advance directive, right to confidentiality, and right to complain without threat. Some of the ethical responsibilities include: respecting confidentiality, responding with respect to the emotional and physical needs of every patient, reporting honestly, reviewing performance, and maintaining mastery skills. My response to the letter may encourage that health care professional stay with new concepts and modalities, work cooperatively with respect, decision making should not be solely based on the opinion of others, health professionals must follow a global protocol, and finally emotions should not be regarded as a factor (George, 2003).

DQ #2 - When a provider reports abuse, should the accused abuser be able to know the identity of his or her accuser? Explain your answer with as much detail as possible.

I think that accusers should be allowed to stay anonymous when their lives would be in danger (witness to a murder kind of thing) or when their position in the society would be so dangerously compromised that they probably couldn't live there any more. This standard can be applied even if the accusation is wrong. I think that anonymous accusers should be allowed to stay anonymous until the decision is made by a court whether either of the above conditions is the case (Rodwin, 1994). The above example of sixth amendment basically applies to the context of criminal prosecution. This basically allows the defendant to be availed to all the evidence that is against the defendant. On the other hand, in the case of a child abuse, it is evident that children can be easily influenced and in most cases abused and therefore it makes sense if at the law enforcement wants to preserve the testimony.

DQ #3 - If a provider reports an alleged abusive situation which turns out to be false, should the reporter be sanctioned? Explain your answer with as much detail as possible and include what your state's law(s) say about making a report that turns out to be false.

The Sixth Amendment to the United States Constitution provides that an accused party has the right to face their accuser. But if people are found to have made grossly false accusations, they should therefore be held liable for the time and money that was spent in carrying out the investigation and be sanctioned as well. However, the law varies from state to state; the identity of the person making the report can be kept from the family, but not from CPS since if they are supposed of intentionally making a false report, they can be prosecuted (Hoffmann, and Catherine, 1996).

DQ #4 - Describe in detail why a patient's responsibilities are as important as his or her rights?

Patient's responsibilities are as vital as his/her rights because it helps patients participate effectively and in turn helping their health care team to deliver best care possible. Patient's responsibilities also aid decisions made upon matters of conduct, and in the provision of the best knowledge, accurate and complete information regarding concerning the patients' medical history. The patient's responsibility is also essential as it helps in creating conformity to medical center rules and bin acting in a manner that is consistent with the well being of other patients. Generally, the rights and responsibilities of the patient are essential in following the care, treatment, service plan or instructions, given by health care provider in order to determine the general outcome or what is expected of the health care giver.
