Qualitative study is one among all of the research methods that thrives in health care; especially in the nursing research. This is as a result of the urge of the Clinical Nurse Specialists to be aware of the importance about the findings obtained via qualitative research. In the process of this study to the first priority are given questions based on nursing practice. Qualitative study is referred as a research of inquiry, whereby the researcher act as data gathering device, which is used to answer, questions concerning how and why a certain issue emerges. The solutions provided should be based on the nature of the phenomenon, thus, proving to follow the ethical code in nursing.
There are some concept and assumption kept into consideration in the use of qualitative study. The vital basic assumption used in qualitative research is that, reality is something socially constructed on one’s basis. There is existence of various methods of qualitative research, such as phenomenology, ethnography, qualitative description and grounded theory; which are the ones mostly used in the research of nursing. However, each and every method is entitled to its own objective and assumption. Hence in the selection of the effective method to use, one considers the questions in the research. The information used in the research is gathered by using of one or links of three techniques which includes an observation, picture or document review and interviews. The information is later analyzed inductively in a manner that it offers best answer for the questions in the research. The crucial objective of qualitative study is not the massiveness of data, but adding knowledge concerning the phenomena in the research of nursing (Denise, 2008).
