Tartuffe ordered that the Damis should be told a lesson to avoid repetition of the behavior in the future. As a punishment to Damis and the rest of the family, Orgon signed everything the family owned to Tartuffe. Elmire decided to take up the challenge and told Orgon that Tartuffe seduced her. Orgon did not accept because he believed in Tartuffe. Orgon hide under the table and listened to every word Tartuffe told Elmire. When Elmire refused, Tartuffe wanted top rape her, but Orgon got out of the table and chased him out of the house. Tartuffe ordered Orgon family to leave the house because it belonged to him. Finally, he went with a police officer who arrested him instead of Orgon.

The author of the story brings across the theme of discrimination and mistreatment. Orgon’s family has being mistreated by Tartuffe because of lack of knowledge. Organ decided to give his daughter to Tartuffe. The daughter was engaged to another man, but discrimination made Orgon give the daughter to Tartuffe. The aspect of tradition comes across when Orgon decided to give out her daughter to a man for marriage. This shows that in that society girls did not decide who to marry, but they waited for their fathers to decide.
