In the article “Episcopal bishop says yes—and no—to gay blessings”, issued on July 24, 2012, Greg Garrison draws our attention to an ambiguous problem of same-sex unions.
The author tells us about Episcopal Bishop Kee Sloan of Alabama who made a doubtful decision of the problem. He worked on developing new rites for blessing same-gender unions. He voted for them. However, he does not allow such kind of rites in his diocese. He says that people in Alabama are not ready for such activities.
There is the opinion on the problem of another ecclesiastic dean of Cathedral Church of the Advent the Rev. Frank Limehouse, who has a single meaning in this question. He says that according to the Bible, there must be a man and a woman to be blessed in a marriage. To his opinion, there cannot be another viewpoint on the problem if a person sincerely reads the Bible and practises Christianity.
It is seen from the text that the author professionally balances between two points of view on the problem. It gives the place for the readers to think about what is right and what is wrong.
As for me, I am not a supporter of any side. However, the idea about the marriages between a man and a woman is closer to me as I practise Christianity and believe in God. Of course, every person is to have basic human rights. Thus, I do not exclude the possibility to make same-sex marriages possible.
