Introduction

Basketball is a game that has been played by the Americans for a long time. It has developed tremendously. James Naismith, an educator, physician and a Canadian clergy was the man who invented the game, in December 1891. He introduced the game at young men's Christian association training school (now known as Springfield College) in Springfield, Massachusetts. The team members were nine, and the first game was played using a soccer ball. The wooden goals were fixed on the walls. Towards the end of 1890s, the number of players standardized to five. Both men and women played it.

The game was spread all over the world by U.S service men during World War II. In U.S., a number of colleges adopted it and became a huge college sport. National basketball league was started in 1898. It was later merged with the Basketball Association of America to form National Basketball Association (NBA). A basketball hall of fame was created in Springfield, Massachusetts. To honor great teams, coaches, people, and referees.

EKU Men's Basketball victory over Tennessee State

The Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) men's basketball squad   played the Tennessee State team in McBrayer Arena. The colonels won the game by 86 to 72 with Spencer Perrin and Justin Stommes marking a career high and a season best respectively. Kenny Moore of Tennessee State led his teammates with a career high of 25 points. The game was very exciting with each team making good use of their chances, but EKU's coach tactics carried the day. Eastern Kentucky started the game on a high note leading by 21-9 by six minutes of the game. The Tigers bridged the gap to 36-34 and took its first lead a moment later by 47-45, but this was sort lived because they gave Colonels chance to lead for good. Their first encounter saw the Tigers holding the Colonels to a season low (Eastern Kentucky University, 2011).
